  • Are you tired of the "Man Code"---you know that unwritten rule among men that only allows us guys to talk about the "safe" subjects like sports and cars and our jobs?

  • Do you ever wish there was a small group of guys that you could talk with about your spirituality, your faith life, your joys and struggles?

  • Do you  think you might be able to go deeper in your spiritual journey if there was just a couple of other guys you could learn from who have had similar life experiences just like you?

If you answered "yes" to any of the questions above, then maybe group spiritual direction is a tool you might want to add to your spiritual toolbox.

Take a look at the Questions and Answers below to learn more.  If you want, we will even give you an opportunity to experience group spiritual direction first-hand at a informational meeting where you and a couple of other guys just like you can see what it's all about. Then you can decide for yourself  if group spiritual direction is something you might want to add to your spiritual toolbox.

Questions and Answers on Men's Group Spiritual Direction:

What is Group Spiritual Direction?

Group Spiritual direction is a simple process in which a small group of guys gather together on a regular basis to focus upon and assist one another in finding and following the voice of God in their lives. The simple process allows each man to share their experiences, listen with the prayerful support of each other and receive deeper insight and encouragement into how God might be leading and guiding them in the ordinary events of their life.
How Many Men Are in Each Group?
Groups are limited to 5 – 7 members with a facilitator.
How Often Does the Group Meet?
Most groups gather for an initial introduction meeting to discuss, ask questions and experience this model of group spiritual direction so that each man can determine if this is something that would be helpful to him. Once the group is formed, the group determines how often it wants to meet. Most groups typically meet once a month; however, some groups have opted to meet twice a month.
What Time and Where Does the Group Meet?
Each group will typically meet from 6:30 – 9 PM on a specific day of the month. However, once formed, the group will determine what day and time works best for the members.

Men’s group spiritual direction is designed to be an ecumenical group of men from all faith traditions. The groups usually meet at Dominican Center at Marywood located at 2025 Fulton Street, Grand Rapids, MI 49503-3898, unless the group decides upon an alternate location.
Is There a Cost?
The Dominican Center requests a small stipend of $10.00 per meeting to use the room. This cost can be shared on a voluntary basis by the group members. There are no other fees or costs.

Have you ever asked yourself...

  • Does God really speak to me in daily life?
  • How can I learn to hear His voice among the noise in busy life?
  • Are there other men, like me, who want to go deeper into their faith experience, but can’t seem to find the way to do so or are afraid to take the step?

If you have ever asked yourself some or all of these questions and are willing to take the next step in your faith journey toward deeper wholeness, then, come join a small group of other men for an initial introductory meeting to see how you might experience God more deeply in your daily life.
